Sea Base St. Thomas Sailing Adventure Trek
Troop 150 Has secured a Sailing Adventure trip at Sea Base St. Thomas. We are scheduled for Saturday, June 14 to Thursday, June 19th (2025). Scouts will be sailing, hiking, snorkeling, and exploring the US Virgin Islands by sailboat, potentially circumnavigating the island of St John and visiting many other islands along the way.
The dates:
Trek Dates: Saturday, June 14 to Thursday, June 19th (2025).
The details and requirements:
- We have a reservation for two boats, each with a capacity of 6-8 (maximum trek total of 16).
- We are required to have two leaders per boat (4 total), with a maximum leader-to-scout ratio of 1/1.
- At least one leader per boat must have Wilderness First Aid & CPR certification.
- All adults/leaders must be officially registered with BSA and have current YPT certification (there are some other minor online training requirements specific to Sea Base programs that will also be required).
- Scouts must be 13 years of age on the first day of our trek.
- Scouts aged 18 – 21 are still eligible to go on the trip (would require being registered as a member of a venturing troop or as a leader).
- All participants are required to be able to pass a BSA swim test with a swimmer-level certification.
The cost:
- Fees are based per boat.
- Based on a full trek of 16 people, it will be $1325 per person (not including airfare, and incidental spending money).
Claim your spot:
- Commitments are on a first come / first served basis. Respond directly to Scoutmaster Jared.
- Your spot on the crew will be official after your deposit is received.
- In the event we do not fill the trek with our own scouts, we will selectively open up to Scouts / leaders from other troops we know / in the local area
Payment Schedule:
- $175 per person is required to officially secure a spot / required by February 15th as we have a payment due to Sea Base by March 1, 2023.
- $575 due by 10/15/24
- $575 due by 3/15/25 (Final outstanding balance)
- Airfare – As we get closer to the trek, we will begin working on the group airfare tickets (too far out to book at this time).
